Prayer

G

od is interested in us.

He expresses His interest in our needs as people. “Cast all your cares upon him for He cares for you. Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer for us to pray “Give us this day our daily bread”. The bread described by Jesus is not just regarding food but represents our needs and that God expects us to talk to him about our problems and needs.

P

rayer is linking our hands in the hands of God and working with Him to see the answer. Prayer is not just about talking to God about our needs. Prayer is so much more - it is about a relationship with God through Christ Jesus. Prayer is us communicating with God and God communicating with us. That’s why Jesus’ model of prayer starts with Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your Name, Your kingdom Come, Your will be done. God wants us to focus outwardly on Him and not focused on our problems.

The Lord’s Prayer

Can be found in any Bible in the New Testament - Book of Mathew Chapter 6: 10-14. This, then, is how you should pray:

O

ur Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins , as we also forgive those who have sinned against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.  For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
